HISTORY OF DUKES

Dukes was founded in 1975 by the “Duke” himself.  Duke purchased the property, which was known for their hamburgers, hot dogs, etc.  But his intention was to make it famous for homemade Italian beef and sausage sandwiches.  In the beginning we would offer our customers a sample of our beef sandwich to get them accustomed to the great flavor and eventually the word got out that Dukes was the place for a beef sandwich.

It’s said that truck drivers know the best place’s to eat, Duke was a truck driver all his life, he knew he had a good recipe for beef sandwiches and his success is shown by the number of trucks in our lot every day at lunch time!!! 

We’re also known on the south side of Chicago as the place to see and be seen with Hot Rod and Muscle Cars.  We have been featured in just about every car enthusiast magazine out there as well as in major newspapers.  Stop by on a nice weekend night to see some of the Midwest’s Finest Antique, Hot Rod and Muscle Cars!!!
